Born in 1969 with inherent musical talents Brian McKnight hails from a musical family. He was a member of the church choir, the band leader and the youngest of five brothers. During his childhood Brain joined the musical quartet formed by his brothers and they adopted the gospel music genre as their role model in singing and derived inspiration from groups like Mighty Clouds of Joy and Swan Silverstone’s.

During their growing years the band gradually disbanded with his brothers joining up other groups. He was signed up by Mercury Records in 1989 when he was 19 years. He made three albums under the Mercury label with the debut album being released in 1992. McKnight launched into a fresher path of music and blossomed as an R&B superstar from 1997. He has received double platinum status for his album Anytime which sold more than two million copies in US and has been nominated for a Grammy award.
