There are many who wish that they had a job they could do from home as they go out the door each morning. While there are advantages to having your home double as your work environment, there are also disadvantages to this as well. This is especially true if you have children at home.

One of the disadvantages of work at home jobs where there are small children is that just as you get into a project and are doing well with it, one of the children needs your attention. The fact that you are home means that you can tend to their needs, but when you get back to work your train of thought is gone and you have to try to remember what it is you wanted to do.

Another disadvantage is the lack of the social world of the workplace. You are on your own at work and cannot laugh or share a joke with co-workers. You have your coffee breaks and lunch alone. You also have to be jack of all trades when you work at home. Along with getting a day’s work done, you also do housework and prepare meals.
