As a new salesman, I had to figure out the best way to get customers to buy things. Getting them to buy one thing was easy: most of them had come into the store as shoppers, after all, so they wanted to spend money. However, upselling, getting them to buy more than they had originally intended, and suggesting comparable items was hard, and kind of not in my nature. We had had a short in-store training session, but I still felt a little bit at sea. And then a buoy floated by, in the form of a website upon which I just stumbled. This site offered an affordable, 30-day program to help me bolster my persuasion abilities, giving lessons on how to persuade people in the marketplace. It was a lucky find!
