One great way to help people out without handling the gross end of it is to become a physical therapy assistant. Being a nurse involves seeing some gross things. Physical therapy assistants don’t see gross medically-related things, they see patients trying to endure therapy and regain movement of their arm. There is nothing gross about that. In fact that is rather cool to see. You probably earn about as much as a nurse earns, somewhere around the neighborhood of $35,000. That is not a bad physical therapy assistant salary. Only you see medical stuff that is easier on the eyes and stomach to handle. Some patients may have stitches or a missing limb, but you aren’t apt to see the stitches unless you get into a conversation with the patient where they show you the stitches. Still, if you have a queasy stomach, being a physical therapist assistant is a safer career to get into.
