The Chinese are very proud of their culture; they have every right to be. For thousands of years, they have developed a very sophisticated culture that rivals that of the achievements of Europe. Many of these markers of culture have been preserved for generations, and one of them would include Chinese Imperial Cuisine. In very special occasions, this just might be one of the most extravagant meals that any student enrolled in Beijing Chinese schools would consider having. It used to be the case that such cuisine was only reserved for emperors, his wives, concubines, and other members of the royal household as well as their honored guests. This kind of cuisine combines the very best of all of China’s culinary traditions but has a degree of focus on Shangdong and Jiangsu cuisine. It has to be reiterated again that even though such a regal banquet is now made much more accessible, it doesn’t mean that it’s going to be cheap but at the very least one gets to experience dining like an emperor in Beijing.
