Migraines are a specific type of headache which affects a part of the head. We should be aware of the nature and the symptoms of migraine to identify migraine cure.

Biological disorders during Migraine:

Some substances appear in the blood, or are modified in the time of crisis. In the course of a migraine, the first disorder is the appearance of ‘norepinephrine’, a stress hormone produced by the adrenal gland which acts on the platelets (the cells responsible for clotting), and then activates them in aggregation. Then ’serotonin’ is released, which affects blood flow. ‘Dopamine’ is also released by the adrenal glands. These factors combine to tighten or dilate blood vessels to cause inflammation, edema and pain. The “vascular storm” can then be activated. When ’serotonin’ is massively excreted in urine, vasoconstriction and vasodilatation follow. Through the distended vessels pass pain causing irritants, such as ‘Histamine’, (from a class of white blood cells called mast cells), ‘bradykinin’ and ‘prostacyclin’ (class of fatty acids). We do not know their exact role, but they seem more or less involved in the mechanism of migraine.
